In partnership with Friends of the Earth, St Frideswide’s Church holds its third annual West Oxford Bee Festival on Saturday 15 July, 2–4 p.m. at the church on Botley Road. This event has proved hugely popular in past years. There will be demos, talks and eco walks, food stalls, bee-friendly plants for sale and activities for kids (and grown-ups).
Raffle prizes include:
- Annual pass for two to the Oxford Botanic Garden
- Massage with Annabel James (worth £50)
- Meal for Two at The Porterhouse Blue (formerly The Kite)
- Help from the Gardening Angels
Raffle tickets are available on the day, or in advance from from the church (open Sunday morning 10-10.30; 11.30-12.00) or from Anne James at 26 Barrett Street.
All residents of West Oxford are invited to the Big Picnic, 4–7 pm in Botley Park on 17 June. Bring your own rug, picnic and friends. Later in the evening there will be a stall from the West Oxford beer festival and live music.
This event is part of The Great Get Together which is being held all over the country to mark the anniversary of the death of Jo Cox MP. It is inspired by the words of her maiden speech in Parliament in which she said ‘we have more in common than that which divides us’.
